Christmas sonata for trumpet (clarinet, tenor sax, alto sax) & organ (violoncello ad lib.). Four fantasias on Christmas chorales, set in Baroque and Romantic styles. The keys were selected so that the fantasias on "Lobt Gott, ihr Christen alle gleich"; "Brich an, o schönes Morgenlicht"; "Ich steh an deiner Krippen hier"; and "In dulci jubilo" are appropriate for liturgical use in the worship service. The easily playable pieces are especially suitable for amateur and part-time musicians. The movements can be performed as a concertante cycle or individually. Series In dulci jubilo

after the paraphrase by Luigi Bassi for clarinet and orchestra, arranged by Martin C. M. Wagner. The arranger went to great efforts to underscore the theatrical effects of the arias quoted in the piece (“A te, o cara” and “Vien, diletto, è in ciel la luna”), and to remain stylistically as close to possible to the originals. This challenging bravura piece (duration: 9’) adds variety to a belcanto concert or an Italian serenade.
