Giacomo Carissimi (1605-1674): Salve, salve puellule

Aria for soprano/tenor [c'-g''], 2 violins & b. c, edited by Dr. Konrad Ruhland. Two sources of this cantata were preserved: One of them holds the British Museum and was the basis for a former publication. But in this source the two violin parts are lacking. The second source was found by Dr. Konrad Ruhland in a library in Czechia which encloses the two so far missing violin parts. So the Sinfonia at the beginning of the aria makes more sense with the two violins. Wonderful Italian Aria for Christmas. Christmas series Puer Natus in Bethlehem
