Abel, Carl Friedrich (1732–1787): Die 2. Pembroke-Sammlung

for viola da gamba & b.c. and viola da gamba & violoncello from the Kulukundis collection, edited by Thomas Fritzsch. The Second Pembroke Collection consists of four duets and ten sonatas for viola da gamba and Bc that were written for the Countess of Pembroke. To distinguish it from the Pembroke Collection, which has been known for a long time, the manuscript collection British Library Add. MSS 31697 has been designated by the editor as the Second Pembroke Collection. In contrast to the first collection, it contains demanding works that presumably stem from Abel’s late period. Edition Güntersberg
• Solo-Sonatas 3–7: G253, € 21.50
• Solo-Sonatas 8–10 und 13–14: G254, € 21.50

Bach, Johann Sebastian (1685–1750): Drei Sonaten BWV 1027–29
three sonatas for viola da gamba solo & harpsichord obbligato, edited as facsimile by Hille Perl. In collaboration with the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin – Preussischer Kulturbesitz, this manuscript is published here for the first time in facsimile as a high-quality four-color print. Especially in view of the difficult source situation, this facsimile is an important aid to decision-making in musical practice. Series Magdeburger Faksimile Edition
• EW888, € 29.80

Carissimi, Giacomo (1605–1674): Gaudeat terra, jubilent montes
Christmas motet for 2 sopranos & organo from the Düben Collection in Uppsala, edited as first edition by Jolando Scarpa. Carissimi’s voice leading is full of lightness and charm, and displays an expressiveness that is very spiritual and “modern.” With its text, this very balanced motet is not only intended for the Christmas season, but also for Easter and the feasts of the Annunciation and the Immaculate Conception. Series Voce divina
• EW768, € 17.500

Muffat, Georg (1653–1704): Sonata Violino Solo
Prague 1677, edited as critical new edition with thorough-bass realization by Markus Eberhardt. An Urtext edition of this masterwork has long been desired. It is the Baroque violin sonata par excellence, whereby the first movement is also feasible for good pupils. Series Harmonia Coelestis
• EW874, € 13.80

Pfleger, Augustin (~1635–1686): Dialogus: in Festo Annuntiationis Mariæ
Advent music for the Annunciation Day for soprano, alto, bass, 2 viols da Bracci & organ, edited by Jolando Scarpa. The text was set by Pfleger as if it were a scene from the libretto of an oratorio or an opera, that is to say, with realistic characters. At the end of this very balanced and quality composition from the Düben Collection in Uppsala, the vocal parts combine into a very compelling concertato. Series Voce divina

Smith, John Christopher (1712–1795): (6) Suites de Pièces Pour le Clavecin – Second Volume
for harpsichord, London ca. 1735, edited in two volumes by Jolando Scarpa. Already at the age of eleven, Smith was Handel’s favorite harpsichord pupil and studied composition with Pepusch and Roseingrave. From 1737 he was Handel’s musical assistant. The time has come to also discover Smith beyond his interesting oeuvre for harpsichord. He wrote numerous operas for which Metastasio, among others, wrote the librettos. Urtext edition, Series Frutti Musicali
• Second Volume – part 1: EW872, € 16.00
• Second Volume – part 2: EW914 in preparation

Stuck, Jean-Baptiste (1680–1755): Duo for Oboe and Bassoon
form the cantata “Héraclite et Démocrite” for oboe, bassoon & b.c., arranged and edited by Cedric Lee. Green Man Press

Ulich, Johann (1677–1742): Sechs Sonaten
Six Sonatas for recorder (transverse flute) & harpsichord, edited as facsimile and new edition by Paul Wåhlberg. The Sonatas by the Zerbst composer (born in Wittenberg) were composed for recorder and published in 1716 in Köthen. Only the Sixth Sonata in G Major could have been intended for the then increasingly popular transverse flute, since it clearly differs in various ways from the other five sonatas. The only completely preserved copy was recently discovered by Pavel Serbin in the Russian State Library in Moscow. A rewarding discovery of Central-German flute music. – CD recording by Paul Wåhlberg (Euridice EUCD 63).
• Volume I (Sonatas I–III): EW921, € 19.80
NEW: Volume II (Sonatas IV–VI): EW942, € 21.80
