St Mary's, the most important church in Gdansk, was the place of activity of the composer, who left behind numerous works. The rarely set text is preceded by a lively sinfonia for viols. In the main section, the violas' tonal contribution is limited to the harmonic accompaniment of a simple accompagnato, while the soprano is able to set the text to heartfelt effect.
