product description
for cello solo, 2 oboes, 2 horns, 2 violins, viola & b. c., edited as an Urtext edition (duration 24’) by Markus Möllenbeck with a piano reduction by Roland Steinfeld. Kraft was Haydn's solo cellist in Eisenstadt, afterwards in Vienna where he premièred Beethoven's Triple Concerto. Haydn valued Kraft not only for his exceptional skill and purity of intonation, but also for his talent as a composer and offered him composition lessons, which Kraft accepted in the early 1780s. Likely composed between 1785 and 1790, this concerto belongs to the same fruitful decade as Haydn’s Second Concerto in D major (1783) and Carl Friedrich Abel’s Second Concerto in C major, WKO 60 (EW1070), composed just a year earlier. Performers are rewarded with an original, cheerful, joyful and technically rewarding contribution to the classical concerto literature. Series Il Violoncello concertato
