product description
for solo cello, 2 violins, viola & B. c., published as an Urtext edition (duration: 17 ') by Markus Möllenbeck with a piano reduction by Roland Steinfeld. Monn was one of the great Viennese musical talents of the 18th century, but died at the age of 33. The present concerto, from which he even turned it into a harpsichord concerto in the same key, aroused the interest of Arnold Schoenberg, who published it in 1912 in the series DÖT and also prepared a piano reduction. Furthermore, in 1933, Schoenberg used another of Monn's harpsichord concertos in D major to create a cello concerto in his own orchestration, which was premiered by Emanuel Feuermann in 1935. Monn's G minor concerto presented here has been made particularly popular in modern times by Jacqueline du Pré, who frequently performed and recorded it. Critical Urtext Edition. Series Il Violoncello concertato
