Preserved as a copyist’s score from the holdings of the court of Hesse-Darmstadt, this work, which lacks instrumentation indications, was already published years ago in an edition for strings. In his new evaluation of the source, the editor sees clear evidence, on the basis of the voice leading and compass of the parts, that the Suite was written for three transverse flutes.
