Gronau, Daniel Magnus (~1690–1747): Concerto per il Cembalo

Product.Nr.: EW1029

edited by Jolando Scarpa. Unfortunately, most of the works by the Danzig organist were destroyed by fire during World War 2. This concerto is a great enrichment to the repertoire and clearly shows Gronau's mastery. Urtext edition, Series Frutti Musicali

Bach, Johann Christian (1735–1782): 6 Quartettos op. 8

Bach, Johann Christian (1735–1782): 6 Quartettos op. 8

Product.Nr.: G311

for oboe (flute, violin), violin, viola da gamba (viola), & basso, edited by Günter von Zadow and Thomas Fritzsch. This music enjoyed great popularity in the late eighteenth century not only in London, as one can deduce from the fact that five editions were published in 1772 alone (in Paris, The Hague, Amsterdam, Mannheim, and London). While well worked-out motifs, which are frequently repeated, alternate with imitative entries in the three upper parts, the bass supports the flow of the colorful and cheerful music that is reminiscent of Haydn and Mozart. Pandolfi Mealli, Giovanni Antonio (17. Jh.): Sonatae op. 3 & 4

Pandolfi Mealli, Giovanni Antonio (17. Jh.): Sonatae op. 3 & 4

Product.Nr.: EW829

for violin & b. c., Innsbruck 1660, facsimile, edited by Enrico Gatti and Fabrizio Longo. A facsimile edition is particularly important for the two substantive cycles of violin sonatas by the Viennese court chapel-master, since in the case of this early print the interpretational possibilities of a modern edition are multifarious. The two editors offer new knowledge in the detailed introduction to the works. Two-color printing, thread stitching.

„The publication is also important for its introduction. Gattis seven pages are essential reading for performers of 17th-century sonatas.“ EARLY MUSIC REVIEW (GB), 06/2011
